Speaking Skills: Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes

“I guess you think you know this story – you don’t. The real one’s much more gory!” Cinderella, Roald Dahl

You may think you know every fairy tale through and through, but do you know them with Roald Dahl’s crazy concoction of revolting twists and turns?

Roald Dahl’s clever use of rhyme and imagination takes the stories you THINK you know and turns them on their head! Explore tales from the perspective of characters you thought you hated and find out what really happens in the world of happily ever after. You’ll look at Roald Dahl’s classics such as The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Jack and the Beanstalk and others. Discover what makes these stories so captivating as you dive deep into the world of humorous poetry, developing your voice and acting skills along the way!

Parents, this workshop uses Roald Dahl’s classic poetry to develop voice and acting skills hand in hand for upper primary students. We highly recommend this workshop for public speaking enthusiasts and performers alike, as no author brings out both skills better than Roald Dahl! Existing students will love the deep-dive into this hilarious poetic form and accelerate their skills at performing this style of work. Beginner students are also welcome – they’ll get a taste of what speech and drama is all about and feel more confident next time they have to speak or perform in front of a crowd.
