Speaking Skills: The Room Where It Happened – Hamilton Remastered

Are you dreaming of being in the room where it happens? Not sure how you’re going to survive until Hamilton opens in Sydney next year? We can help you countdown the days in this special speaking skills workshop inspired by the musical itself!

Part of what makes Hamilton so addictive is the rhythm and rhyme used in the lyrics, geniusly woven together by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Your fan-dom is going to reach a whole new level as you break down exactly what the words tell us about each character and the lessons you can learn from Hamilton that could make YOU the next star speaker.

Come prepared to put Hamilton lyrics under the microscope and get your pen ready to have a go at writing your own rap number!

Parents, this workshop teaches students about language techniques, rhetoric and speech devices using the lyrics of Hamilton as a stimulus. Students will learn what makes certain speeches memorable and impactful, and pick up skills and techniques they can incorporate into their next speech-writing task. We strongly encourage debating and public speaking enthusiasts to take part and also welcome newbies who might discover a love of oration through their love of Hamilton.
